Search the library
Search
Search every guide, book note, practice, and essay. The search runs locally in your browser. Queries are not sent to any server.
The search drawer below covers every public page on the site, including the Life Skills guides, the Book Notes shelf, the Practices, the Ideas essays, and the Wellbeing and Relationships hubs. Type a single word or a short phrase. Results update as you type.
How the search works
The search loads a small JSON index and matches your query inside your browser. Queries are not logged. The search is meant to be lightweight and predictable.
A few practical notes.
- One word usually finds more than three. "Habits" works better than "how to build a habit". The search ranks pages by how well the title and body match the words you type.
- Capitalisation does not matter. Punctuation is mostly ignored.
- Stemming is not aggressive. "Habit" and "habits" both work, but very different word forms may not match.
- The search snippet shows a small slice of the page around the matched word, which is usually enough to decide whether the result is the one you want.
Useful starting words
If you would like a few terms that map clearly to pages on the site:
- happiness, habits, purpose, work ethic, communication, vulnerability, social anxiety, anxiety, depression, loneliness, intuition, perseverance, productivity
- For book notes, the author surname or the most distinctive word in the title is usually enough. "Sotomayor", "Taubes", "Doughnut", "Chimp", and "Fourth Age" all return their respective notes.
What the search does not return
A few things that are intentionally absent.
- Tracking parameters, draft files, internal manifests, and tool files are not indexed.
- The 404 page, the search page itself, and the changelog are not indexed; they would only add noise to the results.
- Header, footer, and navigation links are not indexed, so the same words appearing on every page do not flood the results.
Browsing instead
If you would rather browse than search, every section in the site has its own hub:
- Life Skills for the longer guides.
- Book Notes for reading.
- Practices for short worksheets.
- Ideas for longer essays.
- Learning Paths for guided sequences.
- Wellbeing and Relationships for the smaller, more careful hubs.
If a search comes back empty when you expected a match, please flag it via the contact page. It is more likely the page was misnamed than that the search broke, and either way the editors would like to know.
